BUDDY, the world’s first affordable companion robot, reached a crowdfunding milestone. So far, BUDDY has raised $400,000 – four times its original goal – on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.

17th August, 2015 – PARIS – Today, BUDDY, the world’s first affordable companion robot, reached a crowdfunding milestone.  So far, BUDDY has raised $400,000 – four times its original goal – on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo. The 35-day campaign will now be extended for another 25 days to give more people the opportunity to adopt their own BUDDY.

BUDDY and its creators, Blue Frog Robotics, will now embark on a tour across the United States to meet press, fans and investors.

BUDDY will be in Boston, MA from 17th until 19th August, and in San Francisco, CA from 19th until 21st August.

CLIG的CEO刘如银说:我们想把国内的重症、疑难杂病,通过我们投资的深科技医疗项目进行检测,在美国顶级的医疗机构进行对接,让病人得到救治。我们会选择对路的医院和医生,同时还要价钱相对便宜的,帮病人降低成本。

和一般的孵化器都是做很前期的项目不同的是,CLIG寻找在美国做得比较成熟的,可以拿到国内发展的项目到CL创新中心,以期促进中国经济发展。刘如银说:“我们致力于做中美投资合作的桥梁。我们在美国寻找高科技的项目,引到国内,目标是发展中国的经济。美国成熟一个项目,就落地中国一个。”

怎么寻找优秀企业呢?他认为:首先,这个企业的科技一定要是世界领先的。或者模式领先,或者是科技领先。其次,整个发展空间要大,最好是能有全球的市场。“我们现在位于硅谷的好处就是,硅谷面对的是全球市场。”

为了把CL国际医疗公司做好,刘如银和团队去哈佛医学院、麻省总医学院和斯坦福医学院等知名医院和医生建立合作关系。进入一个新领域,需要多接触人,多接触项目,看成功的企业怎么做的。刘如银注重看书学习。象彼得·蒂尔写的《从零到一》,他看了两遍。他说:“学习新的东西,自己不断地得到了充实。这样最有成就感。”

要实现家门口的全套医疗服务,就需要发掘真正的高科技,带到中国用户身边。刘如银说:“比如我们投的基因检测。要把这样的优质项目找出来,和国内的需求连接起来。在我们CL国际医疗这个平台上,拓展优秀的美国医疗机构和人员。将来要从检测开始,先发现问题,然后直接和美国对接,做成全产业链的服务,就是检测、诊断、治疗都包括,通过我们的创新学院创新中心发掘最新的科技医疗项目,通过医生树互联网平台连接医生和病人,如有需要再通过我们的CL国际医疗赴美就医。”

通过移动互联网技术、智能穿戴技术,医生树平台上医生与患者交流病情,监测患者的体征信息,形成专业的完善的健康档案分析数据。刘如银谈到:有一次,在一个朋友圈里,有人问认不认识斯坦福医院的专家,他的一个亲戚得了肺癌。我们的医生树平台就找到斯坦福医学院的钱湘教授,给病人进行诊治。对方非常感谢。这样类似的例子有不少,都鼓舞着我们继续将医疗健康这项有利众生的事业做好。

CLIG的计划是通过科技医疗检测、医生树沟通服务、CL国际医疗,运用科技医疗加互联网的方式,逐步打造一个国际化的大健康服务生态体系。

The company has unveiled its first Kickstarter campaign to fund the ambitious endeavour, which will see a Lego robot astronaut named ‘Oded’ climb to around 20 miles above Earth to take a photo of the curvature of the planet.

Mobile app maker ByPost is sending the World’s first postcard from Space. The company has unveiled its first Kickstarter campaign to fund the ambitious endeavour, which will see a Lego robot astronaut named ‘Oded’ climb to around 20 miles above Earth to take a photo of the curvature of the planet.

In what is a groundbreaking initiative, ByPost has become the first company to offer a physically delivered reward at the minimum £1 pledge level without any additional cost to the backer. Kickstarter pariticipants that pledge £1 will receive a REAL physically delivered postcard of the image captured at 20 miles above the Earth.

In the first project of its kind, Oded the astronaut will use the company’s iOS app ‘ByPost Postcard Maker’ linked to a satelliete antenna to upload the image whilst at 100,000 feet above ground level.

ByPost’s CEO Luke Heron says “We love Space and we love Postcards and thus this project is the perfect amalgamation of our two favourite things. This is rocket science but without the rockets. Our project will fund the sending of our Lego Mindstorms astronaut up into space via our own custom weather balloon, multi-camera pods and a series of mobile phones connected to a built in satellite antenna from around 20 miles above the earth’s surface.”

Heron expects the mobile devices to capture a series of precise and perfect images of the curvature of the earth which will be beamed back using the company’s iOS application coupled with a satellite antenna. Heron promises that every single backer of this project will receive a beautifully printed postcard, with the printing and shipping process beginning prior to the mission returning to earth.

The company is raising a minimum of £5,000 to fund the project, which it expects to come largely from participants at the minimum £1 pledge level. Heron says: “We want this to be an inclusive event that joins Space enthusiasts the World over.” The project has already received the public backing from virtual reality colossus and astronaut Richard Garriott.

Unlike other golf games, players use a real putter and real balls

Here’s a video putting game for the home or office that simulates real golf courses and even miniature golf courses. Unlike other video games, you putt with a real ball and putter, and you have to account for breaks in the trajectory.

It’s called the Stracka Putt Game and is the brainchild of SanDiego’s Jim Stracka. The game is set up on a special mat with infrared sensors that calculate the path of your putt and display it on your TV or Smartphone. A free app, available from the Apple or Google Play store, tells you where to hit the ball and how hard.

“This technology is great for the ‘gaming’ millennials and their children,” says Stracka, the CEO of StrackaLine (www.strackaline.com). “This is a simple way to play golf in the confines of your own home or office.”

With Stracka Putt, you can play on many famous courses, including those currently used on the PGA Tour.

“We use 3D modeling lasers to scan the surface of putting greens from golf courses all around the world,” explains Stracka. “The app and books we create allow golfers to see all the slopes and breaks of the green, and see the exact line for their putts.”

The Stracka Putt package includes a black box with sensors and power cord, a putter, three golf balls and a special putting mat.

Players can practice, compete on the Internet against other people or compete for cash and prizes in on-line tournaments hosted by StrackaLine. It’s fun for golfers and non-golfers of any age, and is an activity the whole family can enjoy.

Stracka needs $50,000 to finish development of the game and start production. The goal is to begin shipping Stracka Putt by the end of 2015. Tiny GPS tag helps you find anything or anyone and never needs charging

Versatile solar-powered GPS device is smaller than half a pack of gum and can be used for anything, from tracking lions to fitness.

On August 13, 2015 the father and son team behind the new tiny GPS tracker, LightBug, launched a crowdfunding project on Kickstarter to produce the first batch of devices. They were able to raise 30% of their £50,000 total in just 24h. The unit is designed to help anyone find their children, pets or stuff. Advertised as a versatile GPS tracker, it can also be used for fitness or even to help care for Alzheimer patients.

LightBug doesn’t need charging thanks to solar panels. It is both the smallest and lightest GPS tracker available today. The current price of £97 for the Bluetooth enabled version includes 2 years of data, making it significantly cheaper than its competitors. It is expected that the cost, small size, solar charging and ease of use will appeal to parents, pet lovers, fitness enthusiasts and forgetful people alike. 

Users simply attach LightBug to whatever they need to track and use the phone app to both configure alerts and locate it. Alerts can be setup for a wide range of things, such as proximity to the user’s phone. Proximity alerts detect if the device is no longer nearby (using Bluetooth) and will trigger automatic position updates. Alternatively, the user can draw areas on a map that are either “safe zones” or “danger zones” and receive notifications when boundaries are crossed. Other notification triggers include time of day, detection of a falls and speed.

LightBug knows where it is thanks to GPS satellites, with an accuracy of 50cm (1.6ft). It sends its location over the mobile phone network to the app and works anywhere in the world. The battery never needs charging as it has two tiny solar panels capable of charging the built-in battery, even indoors.

“We’ve squashed a mobile phone, low energy Bluetooth chip and high quality GPS antenna into a package smaller than most car key fobs,” says Chris Guest from the LightBug team. “David and I have been working on trackers for 8 years now, and we’re proud to present our best work yet: a device significantly smaller and more feature packed than anything out there already.”

Copenhagen, DK – On August 14 2015, Nik Janfaza launched a Kickstarter campaign for Cycle Weather, a new app for iOS that communicates weather data in a way that is much more simple and visually appealing than most weather apps that are currently available.

“The Cycle Weather app is an effort to design a user interface that presents the user with an appropriate amount of weather data, while keeping it intuitive and simplistic,” the creator explains, “This is done by getting rid of rows and columns of data and replacing it with animated visuals.”

The app essentially fuses the functionality of a weather app with a solar/lunar cycle app. However, unlike most apps that would simply mash together two different app experiences to create a data heavy user interface, the Cycle Weather app instead transforms the data into simplistic visuals. This provides a far more intuitive experience for the user, while still giving clear and complete insight into the data behind the visuals.

Cycle Weather contains all of the useful information you would find in a standard weather app, designed in a way that is not as overwhelming. At a glance users can see information such as location, current weather conditions (along with an animated visual), wind, humidity, and precipitation probability. The app also gives a five-day forecast, line graph illustrating temperature change, plus a sun element (illustrating the day cycle) and moon element (illustrating moonrise, moonset, and moon illumination). 

“The greatest challenge with the Cycle Weather app is the design aspect. Intuitiveness and simplicity is the first priority; every visual element must be thoroughly thought out,” says Janfaza, “A failure in proper visual communication would be a failure of the core attribute of the Cycle Weather app.
For this reason, I will be very open to suggestions for improvement, which is why I am also offering my private email to some backers.”

Mobile commerce growing 300% faster than eCommerce [INFOGRAPHIC] — Study by Coupofy

As smart mobile devices take their hold on the general population and make shopping easier through apps, mobile commerce is on track to grow 300% faster than traditional eCommerce by 2016.

Coupofy.com, a leading database of online coupon codes has observed mCommerce’s growth firsthand. In 2014 there were 560 million mobile coupon users who redeemed 16 billion coupons, this is expected to rise to 1.05 billion users and 31 billion coupons by 2019!

Data researched by Coupofy suggests that between 2013 and 2016 mobile shopping will grow 42% compared to regular eCommerce’s 13%, and mobile users will spend a total of $600 billion in 2018, a 300% growth from 2014’s $200 billion.

Denmark, Norway, Sweden, China, and Spain are leading this growth, each seeing a rise of around 50% in mobile shopping popularity between the same time period. Emerging markets like India and Taiwan saw a 60% increase between 2012 and 2014 as mobile devices became more prevalent among their populations.

There has also been a parallel increase in overall mobile internet revenue streams, with more consumer apps being paid for, more businesses adopting mobile based work environments, and subsequently more advertisers and investors spending their budgets on targeting mobile users.

It’s no surprise that leading traditional eCommerce site Amazon.com is leading the charge in mCommerce, with 110% growth in 2014, earning revenues of $16.8 billion. They are followed by the likes of Apple ($14 billion), Chinese store Jingdong Mall ($5.8 billion), Google Play ($4.4 billion), and QVC ($1.86 billion).

With increasing mobile device use among lower income consumers in Asia, their huge populations are set to account for almost of half of mobile spending by 2018. Some 68% of all Chinese online consumers say they have already shopped with a smart phone.

The most lucrative mCommerce market is Computer/TV/Multimedia, managing an average order value of $212. Apple Users spend on average $15 more than Android users per transaction, while Tablet users spend $36 more than their smartphone cousins. In the battle of the sexes men spend $24 more than women, but women spend the majority of their money on clothing & accessories while men prefer sports products.

Proving that user friendliness is a key driver of mCommerce growth, mobile users prefer shopping apps to their device’s browser.
